A PROPOSAL to lodge funds in banks to serve operators of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) should be recognised, says the director of SME Growth and Development Division, Nathan Timo.
The plan is to park funds for beneficiaries who have been missing out on the Government funding held at the Bank South Pacific Financial Group Limited (BSP) and the National Development Bank (NDB).
“For some reason, the funds held at BSP and NDB were not trickling to micro, small and medium enterprises,” Timo said.
He was addressing the Start Your Business for Micro Enterprises’ of SME training certificates to the 19 participants at the Lae SME Centre recently.
“Take steps to initiate and create enterprises for yourselves and your families that will benefit your communities and the country,” he said.
The Lae SME Centre, a partner of the small-to-medium enterprises Corporation trains SME participants through the Start/Improve Your Business programmes.
Timo acknowledged the work done by Lae SME Centre and urged the SME operators to take up the training, and register with the Investment Promotion Authority and TIN for bank account purposes.
