Provide schools with Eftpos machines

Letters

I AM a parent who at times have to take time off work to queue up at the banks to make school fee payments.
It is very frustrating when you consider factors and consequences relating to and arising from the issue of queuing up in front of banks to make school fee deposits.
I would suggest that the banks, especially BSP, issue Eftpos machines to all secondary and tertiary institutions and primary schools (if possible).
This would allow parents to go to the schools and pay children’s fees, rather than having to queue up at the banks.
Let the school bursars liaise with the banks.
This will ease some of the workload from the bank staff.
The current system now is – parents withdraw cash from the ATM then queue in the bank to deposit into school accounts.
There are electronic facilities that cater for such transactions but parents are reluctant to use them due to limited awareness on the services, especially the majority in rural areas.
The installation of Eftpos machines at institutions will cut down the queues and would be more convenient for parents.
