THE people of Chimbu will end the year with the Kuakumba Festival.

Minister for Culture and Tourism Boka Kondra and National Cultural Commission executive director Dr Jacob Simet announced that like other provinces, Chimbu would have its Kuakumba Festival every December.

The announcement was made at the revival of the Chimbu Cultural Show over the weekend.

“The Kuakumba Festival will staged in Kundiawa every second week of December, please do not change the dates  as my ministry will promote and market it to the next level,” Kondra said.

He said Chimbu had a unique cultural diversity that captured the essence of the province.

Kondra said he was excited about the Kuakumba Festival and would market  it locally and internationally.

Simet said it was important for Simbu to have the festival on the national events calendar.

He said Chimbu was strategically positioned in the highlands region and must make use of that by hosting the festival annually.

Chimbu Governor Noah Kool has set up an Art-Culture and Show Authority to ensure the Kuakumba Festival is held in the second week of December annually.
