Province praised for change in behaviour

A STATE Minister has praised Western Highlands for its leadership and the change in behaviour of its people.
Provincial and Local Level Governments Minister Pila Niningi said he was pleased to see the standard set at the provincial government headquarters, especially the manner in which every person were attired.
The former Kapal Building, now two separate high rise structures, would be renamed following a naming competition by schools.
About 600 people witnessed the swearing in ceremony of council presidents, election of the deputy governor and swearing-in of the provincial executive council.
Niningi said: “Everything begins with behaviour change. You must not litter. You should not chew betel nut”.
“What I see today is behaviour change,” he said.
“That is so good to see. You must keep it up.”
The 12 presidents were sworn in by resident senior magistrate Betty Jacob.
Mt Gilwe LLG president Michael Mai was elected deputy governor unopposed.
Governor Pais Wingti named a nine member provincial executive council.
