Province quiet during weekend

CENTRAL was quiet during the weekend without major incidents reported to the provincial police headquarters.
Acting Central police commander (PPC) Chief Insp Tapp Opai said his office had not received any major incident reports from its outside stations during the weekend.
He said minor disturbances in most villages were caused by youths brewing and consuming alcohol and smoking marijuana.
Chief Isp Opai said the police in the rural stations had addressed those incidents.
He said alcohol was a contributing factor that caused social problems in the province.
He said State of Emergency Controller and Police Commissioner David Manning issued orders that liquor be banned during the weekend but there were people who still consuming and selling it.
“Most of the social issues and other criminal activities happens because the public are ignorant of the laws and the orders that are in place,” Chief Insp Opai said.
“If only we listen and obey these laws and orders there will be less problems and the police can concentrate on dealing with bigger problems.”
He said awareness on the Covid-19 was still continuing and police were assisting on conducting awareness in the province but people were not taking heed of that information and the messages.
Chief Insp Opai said one of them was the overloading of vehicles.
He said the public needed to practice social distancing because of the Covid-19.
