A MAN who allegedly impregnated a 14-year-old school girl was arrested by National Capital District Police at 5-Mile on Saturday.
According to a Facebook posting by the Police NCD/Central Divisional Command, the suspect, who is in his early 20s and from Nipa, Southern Highlands, allegedly gathered his relatives with the intent of paying compensation to the parents and relatives of the victim when police intervened and detained him.
NCD Met Supt Perou N’dranou condemned the incident and warned that police would come down hard on anyone who resorted to monetary compensation as a form of restitution for any sort of serious crime.
He said this incident alone was quite serious and, therefore, the perpetrator would be charged and prosecuted under the country’s criminal justice system.
In another incident, police in NCD arrested two men who allegedly stole a vehicle on Friday.
Police said its Fox 203 Unit responded by pursuing the suspects at Gerehu.
The suspect riding around in the stolen vehicle, went off the road and into a drain opposite the Radio Light radio station in Gerehu.
Police said the two suspects who were in the vehicle were arrested and were in possession of a homemade gun.

  • I suggest its time now we do away with this compensation mentality. If someone breaks a law, let police do arrest and charge him/her so others may see and won’t do the same mistake again.
