Province to provide TV in schools

THE Hela education division has moved a step ahead to provide television sets with discs to schools in the province.
It is looking forward to provide standardised uniforms to education service staff and each school management team.
Adviser Ronnie Angu told The National that about 1,000 television sets and discs were yet to be received and distributed to the schools.
He said the division had already installed some of them at selected schools and was looking forward to provide them at all schools as they had given confidence to teachers to be committed and students to be presented at school every day.
He said since the closure of the airport a few years ago, people had not been having access to the daily newspapers while a few people living in town had access to television services.
He said many students in Hela were unfortunate and some never had the opportunity to sit in front of a TV screen.
“Teachers and students need to be up-to-date with latest issues such as the Covid-19 and other important issues the world is facing. at the moment,” he said.
“There are other important educational programmes such as the ABC TV education that provides free educational resources for primary and secondary students.”
