Communities receive boat to help church

THE Finschhafen coastline communities in Morobe rely on sea transport and a boat donated to them will benefit the church and its congregation, says Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELC) Kotec president Rev Jonati Metu.
He told Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu that the boat was a much-needed asset and would be used to help the church in its transportation needs.
Saonu, on the weekend, gave a banana boat to ELC of Papua New Guinea Kotec.
He pointed out that where there were people, there were churches and as such churches were the organisations that really serviced the people.
Saonu said he wanted to empower the churches so they could continue to play their part in servicing the people where basic government services often do not reach because of the high costs and difficulties together with the ruggedness terrains and remoteness of the landscape.
Similar donations were made to two other ELC churches along the coastal areas in the Huon Gulf – Bananue Parish and Jaka Circuit recently. While at Kamalawa, he also officiated at a volleyball competition where he donated trophies and cash prizes for the teams that participated. Saonu visited the Gejamsao mothers who invited him and his staff for lunch.
