Provincial days celebration criticised

Letters

CURRENTLY people in the National Capital District (NCD) and Lae are celebrating every provincial days.
I support the opinion of Nenake A Junior on Sept 11, that provincial day celebrations causes cultural division in our society. There are some other side effects too.
Promoting of culture in NCD can lead to racism, tribalism etc.
If you want to promote or know more about your culture and tradition, I think you should go back to your own societies in the village and learn.
Even your children too should go for initiations and other rituals in the village. Not in cities and towns.
Celebrating of provincial days create a lot of social issues and problems in the cities.
People of over 800 different languages comparing their languages, cultures, traditions, styles, beliefs and dressings making themselves vulnerable to social problems.
To uphold the unity of this country, authorities should ban these provincial day celebrations in the National Capital District and Lae.
Take back PNG with diverse cultures as one Nation.
