Increasing lawlessness

Letters

TUNA Bay to Taurama Beach areas are already showing signs of increasing lawlessness.
The once peaceful Papuan community is no longer safe.
Settlement of people in these areas had intensified.
They are bringing with them their ‘don’t care’ mentality and these areas are now potential hot spots for crime.
Ethic clashes, drugs, illegal sale of alcohol, rape, prostitution, harassment are now everyday occurrence.
Moresby South MP Justin Tkatchenko, NCD Governor Powes Parkop, NCDC and the police, please consider establishing a police post at Tuna Bay to control crimes in the area in line with your ‘Make NCDC safe vision’.
The nearest police station at Saraga, 6-Mile does not have the capacity to take care of Taurama areas, as it already has 6-Mile, another large settlement to take care of.
A long-term suggestion is to liaise with landowners at Tuna Bay for a vacant land and establish a post for safety, security, comfort and wellbeing of people here.
The short-term solution is to increase police presence and surveillance from Tuna Bay to Taurama Beach, particularly on the weekends.
Beer culture in the area is getting worse. Speeding and drink driving is also a risk on the roads.
Let’ make Port Moresby and PNG a safe and secure place to live in.
