Slow pace

Letters

THE national government policy on Small to Medium Entrepreneurs seem to be implemented on a snail’s pace.
Although it is an essential economic strategy of the government, the machinery that is supposed to drive this important government policy is not evident, especially in remote rural PNG.
Most of our local business men and women are struggling against great odds to keep their business going in this hard economic times.
There is little economic activities happening in the rural areas while our towns and cities are growing rapidly.
This is unfair and unrealistic for our rural people who constitute the bulk of our population.
Can the implementers of this vital policy realign their working strategies and focus their attention by empowering our rural people with financial resources such as seed capital and up skilling them with relevant skills, knowledge and expertise through aggressive financial literacy training programmes.
Our rural people will benefit immensely if the government agencies responsible for SME fully empower them through financial support and skills development strategies.
Otherwise this marvellous policy will only enrich those in the metropolitan areas.
