PUMA Energy will continue to support City Mission PNG for two years to provide life skills development and training for young people, an official says.
Puma Energy PNG country manager Hulala Tokome said the company had invested about K500,000 through the Puma Foundation to build training facilities for City Mission to roll out its programmes.
“We caught up with their training programme, built training facilities and support syllabuses and training materials that are being used in City Mission PNG,” he said.
“The City Mission does outstand work to help unemployed people learn skills to get jobs as well as protecting women and children from violence and abuse.
“Its work is more important during the current Covid-19 pandemic with increasing unemployment and growing domestic pressure.”
Tokome said the contribution was part of the company’s continuing support for the county’s social development.
City Mission acting general manager Gerald Bengesser thanked Puma Energy for its continued support.
“We are grateful for the long-term and continued support of Puma Energy which makes a big difference to the scale of the programmes we can run,” he said.
According to Puma Energy, they will continue to provide fuel and lubricants to help the mission to continue its outreach programme in the country.
Meanwhile, the company also assisted in providing the business and entrepreneur training programme, run by Switzerland Academy for development.
The programme aimes to empower women and girls by assisting them to start-up businesses.
Women have graduated and started businesses in poultry, bakery and trade stores after Puma started sponsoring the programme in 2019.
