AIR Niugini soared over Fincorp 24-7 in the Private Companies Netball Competition at Rita Flynn Complex indoor courts on Sunday.

The PX women were well organised and coordinated, executing fast-attacking links and have emerged as the team to watch this season.

Their performance on the weekend sealed their position as the competition’s premiership frontrunners.

In the midcourt, Laura Logona, Christabella Amona (c) and Leanne Mitchell were in top gear, ensuring the ball got to shooters Robyn Ravu and Joyce Nao to net vital points — especially in the second half.

Ravu and Nao slotted another 15 points to the opposition’s four after the interval, for a scoreline of 9-3 in favour of the airliners.

In defence, goal-defender Samina Logona and goal-keeper Rita George were a handful for Fincorp’s shooters Mune Igo and Edna Kulu, who were overpowered time and again.

Shooters Diane Kuku and Grace Kiri  were off the mark under pressure from PX defenders.

Fincorp tried desperately through Enastin Rau, Naoru Onea and Noveh Kila, who were also outplayed.

This resulted in a poor showing from the money-lenders throughout the entire game.

Association president Carolyn Genaia said round 2 game 12 ended the round robin competition and the top four in all divisions would be confirmed by the match committee.

Genaia said the finals will be played after the Easter weekend.
