ASPIRING presidents and members for local level governments and wards have been encouraged to display strong and quality leadership when elected in the LLG election.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Inter-government Relations Leo Dion issued strong advice to the leaders to uphold the integrity of the Constitution and work for the benefit of the local communities.

“This election of government is important as it is the third tier of government that is closer to the hearts of the people in the local and ward levels,” he said.

“And so those who will lead after the election for the next period must take responsibility and show strong and quality leadership the local people will benefit from,” Dion said.

“It is paramount that you take serious the leadership role mandated to you to exercise democratic leadership.”

Dion also emphasised the importance of conducting a clean and fair election and has urged officials and voters to observe the rules.
