Queen’s honour

Letters

IT is a timely gesture to recognise two very hard working Eastern Highlanders on the recent Queens Birthday Honours list.
These two are Sir Walter Nombe and Rohu Gagai of Asaroka station.
I know these two gentlemen quiet well and for them to be honoured is indeed real and timely.
Sir Nombe, is indeed a prominent politician, from being a member of the Provincial Assembly to eventually becoming the Premier of the Eastern Highlands government.
Even after retirement, he continues to play a significant role in the community which he so does best even to now.
Rohu Gagai, on the other hand was the “doctor boi” at Asaroka Lutheran station for most his life.
He has been nicknamed Doctor Rohu, even by the educated elites of the Asaroka area.
This title remains with him even to this day.
It is indeed a proud moment for the many of us who know and value the two men’s contribution to the development of Eastern Highlands and the nation.
I would like to commend the Queen’s Award committee for having considered these two prominent Eastern Highlanders to award the medals.
Once more, congratulations to Sir Walter Nombe and Rohu Gagai
