Rai Coast MP an NA puppet

Letters, Normal

IT was interesting to read about Rai Coast MP James Gau pushing for the amendments to Environment Act 2000 (The National, June 4).
On the other hand, he should be mindful that his people are lobbying support from institutions and non-governmental organisations in Port Moresby to fight against the amended law.
Although I am not from an impacted area, I support them because their cause is genuine.
Gau, who was recently voted by the people to be their spokesmen, should not be a puppet trying to please the government.
Can the MP tell the people of his electorate whose interest is he serving?
The people he is representing are lobbying support in Port Moresby and many small grassroots are behind them.
I wonder what Gau’s conscience is telling him.
He must know the truth that what his people are doing is right and he cannot deny that.
