vLOCALS from the Raicoast district in Madang will soon be able to tune into their favourite FM radio stations or view local television programmes.
That comes after Madang Governor James Gau paid to access electronic communication for his people.
The radio project totalling K185,000 received its outstanding instalment of K135,000 from Gau last Friday, while the TV-cabling project cost K202,000.
Provincial project coordinator Philip Sapau said the funding was provided for under the district services improvement programme.
He said the aim of the project was to provide an avenue for people to express and share vital information for development purposes.
“This will be the first for the province, providing an exciting new era for the people,” he said.
“Not only will the people of Raicoast district benefit, but the whole province,” he said.
Sapau said on behalf of PNGFM radio thanked Gau for having the foresight for people to be able to use radio and TV.
The installation of the transmission tower is expected to be completed next month and the project to be launched in early February.
