NATIONAL champion Kauka Raka Jr says he has secured a World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia super featherweight bout which will take place in July.
He lost to Philippine champion Roldan Aldea via a unanimous decision in a title bout last year.
Raka said he would fight a different opponent this time.
At the end of this month, the New Guinea Islander will travel to Brisbane, Australia, where he will prepare under mixed martial arts veteran Adrian Pang.
“I will train with him for the next two months,” Raka said
“He’s also signed me up with a promoter who will organise some fights for me.”
He said since the passing of boxing legend, the late Martin Beni, and advocate Ben Micah, he had been seeking a local promoter.
Raka had been under Oceania Fight Promotions until patron and former Kavieng MP Micah’s passing.
“I’m asking new promoters to support boxing in the country,” he said.
“This is an opportunity for you to promote me and the fight.”
Raka thanked backer James Pang for supporting him with K50,000.
The funding will cover the cost of his travel, accommodation and preparations in Australia.
