NOEL Ramos shot back to beat Richard Bario three fames to nil on day three of the BSP National Men’s Snooker Titles at the Q Club, Lamana, last night.
Ramos, who lost to Toua Simon 3-1 in the second round on Wednesday, kept his cool and played a steady hand to take out Bario 59-18, 52-42 and 66-40.
“I had to make up for the loss against Simon and refocus and concentrate coming back to win this one,” Ramos said.
“This win helps a lot for my final Group C match against Joe Chan which I’m hoping to do well in and secure second place.
“I need to beat Joe at least 3-0 to make the last 16.
“Last year I lost in the quarterfinals and now I’m aiming to go further,” Ramos said.
“I’m looking forward for every match and for me it’s a win at all costs thing.”
In Group C, the race is between Simoi, Ramos and Chan for the top two which will be determined today after the final round robin matches.
In Group A, reigning champion Marcus Ng kept his momentum going with a 3-0 win over Alotau’s Robin Charles — 63-22, 62-20 and 58-23 — to stay unbeaten after three rounds.
The competition heads into its final round today with the competition for top two places in each group on the line.
The last 16 and quarterfinals are tomorrow and will be played over a best-of-seven frames.
