RAMU Agri Industries Limited (Rail) yesterday presented shirts and caps for participants of a basketball course which will be held in Wewak, East Sepik, from Sunday to Dec 20.
Basketball technical coordinator Charles Morola said the merchandise would boost the morale of participants attending the Mamose referees and technical officers’ course.
He said the participants would be travelling in from all the districts of West Sepik — Vanimo-Green, Aitape-Lumi, Telefomin and Nuku — and parts of Morobe.
“A total of 35 participants will attend the course,” Morola said.
“This training will boost the capacity, skills, knowledge and the attitude of the participants to officiate quality basketball matches in each association in the region.
“The training will be ongoing throughout the next three to five years.”
Morola, on behalf of the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea, hailed Rail’s support of the sport.
Rail marketing assistant Flora Anders said the company was happy to sponsor community initiatives, especially programmes that kept youths from trouble.
