Ramu NiCo getting students involved in celebrations

STUDENTS from Usino Primary School in Madang will be part of the Ramu NiCo celebrations of National Mine Safety Week that will begin today.
The theme, ‘Fitness for Work’, will be celebrated with activities involing local participation.
Activities will take place at Basamuk refinery in Raicoast, Kurumbukari (KBK) mine in Bundi, and Madang operational base. The events will cover various safety activities including poster competitions, safety quiz competitions, safety songs, awareness on emergency responses, developing JSA (job safety analysis), eliminate fatigue, site inspections, driving competitions and other safety activities.
Health safety and environment (HSE) teams will visit nearby community schools and conduct awareness on general health and hygiene, identify hazards and how to isolate them.
KBK mine will invite Usino Primary School students to visit the site to understand the operation and safety issues and procedures involved.
In Madang, other service providers, including Modilon General Hospital, traffic police and PNG Fire Service, will educate employees on safety issues that involve their work.
Free medical checks will be provided to local communities. The event starts today and ends on Saturday.
