RAMU NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd will uphold and respect the country’s mining safety standards as a responsible mining company in the country, says vice-president Wang Baowen.
Wang said this when launching the National Mining Safety Week (NMSW) yesterday.
He said Ramu NiCo was a Chinese company but respected and would remain loyal towards a well-developed Western safety standard adopted by PNG.
“Our company is among the eight large-scale mining projects that actually operate in PNG,” Wang said.
“Over the past few years, the project has attracted much attention from the mining industry and statutory regulators as well.
“We will strictly operate under the framework of Western safety standards and PNG mining practice.
“In the multi-cultured environment, we are embraced with general staff and management team varied in languages, cultures, education backgrounds and professional skills.
“The ultimate goal is very clear and consistent, that is zero injury, zero breach, zero hazard and work happily and efficiently in a healthy environment, creating profits and returns for our family members, communities and shareholders,” he said.
He said workers should be familiar with legal and safety standards.
