Rape case adjourned over brief

THE Waigani Committal Court yesterday gave the police prosecution a final adjournment to complete the brief into the case of a man charged with rape.
Magistrate Garry Unjo then fixed May 19 for the hearing of Isaac Yaki, 23, and extended his K1,000 bail.
Police Prosecutor Sgt Christian Iga told the court that the informant was away on duty-travel in the Highlands.
One of the informant’s colleagues who was present in court, confirmed that the informant was away.
“I will adjourn for one more month and that will be the last adjournment,” Magistrate Unjo said.
“Police file must be ready by that time.”
Police alleged that Yaki, 23, produced a video depicting degrading acts with three women which went viral on social media last year.
A complaint was lodged and Yaki was arrested and later charged with rape.
