THE case of Adam Chin Cheah who is charged with raping a 16-year-old girl in a hotel room in Port Moresby in 2019 was yesterday adjourned to July 6.
Waigani committal court magistrate Tracy Ganaii postponed the hearing after both the arresting officer and the victim did not appear in court.
Magistrate Ganaii had summoned Roman Anton to appear and explain how he had obtained statements from the girl who was in Australia.
The victim was also summoned to appear to assist the court.
She was 16 at that time of the offence.
Magistrate Ganaii summoned them to conduct an inquiry because according to evidence obtained by Anton, the victim did not sign the statement but had her initials on them.
Prosecutor Sgt Joseph Sangam said he had informed Anton to appear but he was not present so he will inform Anton to appear next Tuesday. Cheah, 19, of mixed Malaysian-Filipino parentage, had his bail extended with conditions.
