A MAGISTRATE is concerned about the increase in the number of cases of children being subjected to assaults.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar made the statement when a man appeared before him charged with raping two children.
Sam Kissi, 37, originally from Madang and Enga was charged with assaulting a nine-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl in Port Moresby.
He is facing two counts of abduction, two counts of deprivation of liberty or personal freedom, and two counts of sexual penetration of the two primary school students.
Police alleged that on Sept 24, Kissi told the nine-year-old girl that he was her father’s work mate and wanted to buy her chips and chicken.
He promised to later drop her off at home. It is alleged that after buying her chips and chicken, Kissi took her to an inn in Port Moresby against her will with the intention to have sex with her.
