QUERIES from retired teachers about their entitlements should be directed to the Teaching Services Commission (TSC) and not the media, says TSC chairman Baran Sori.
He said this after some retired teachers in the National Capital District approached The National following the delayed payment of their entitlements.
“All enqueries should be directed to us and not to the media,” Sori said.“There are many queries from teachers all around the country.”
Sori said they had allocated a time slot on Fridays from 1pm to 4pm for teachers who had resigned or retired to take their queries to the commission.
Eighty retired teachers in NCD said they had not received their entitlements, according to a spokesman.
“About 70 to 80 of us who retired in 2008 up to 2017 are still waiting for our entitlements,” he said.
“Some have already died while waiting, while some of us even wrote letters to the Teaching Services Commission but there was no response. The admin and budget officer just told us the same thing: ‘We are still looking for money to cater for that’.
“We have served the nation with loyalty and this is the kind of treatment that we get for our services that we have given. “
