RAUKELE Green posted 272 runs against Curry Wanderers in the men’s A-grade to register their 13th win of the Port Moresby Cricket Association season.
The Chillie Sounds and Roka Engineering-sponsored side will head into the semifinals next week following Sunday’s 13-run victory at Amini Park.
Captain Kila Pala told The National that their efforts so far this season had seen the team remain unbeaten.
“We had our senior players in the likes of Kay Melo, Vui Vagi, Tony Alu and Kelly Karo leading the way,” he said after the game.
“Robert Naime scored 46 runs.
“Everyone chipped in with double figures which brought up the target to 9/272.
“Each member of the team has contributed to our success so far this season.” Raukele started well to claim their first wicket in the second over.
The team had good composure, but they dropped seven catches.
Oge Henao was consistent with his spin deliveries and gave Raukele the opportunity to chase the target.
“We decided to field Henao to limit our opponents’ runs,” Pala said. “The move helped us beat Wanderers.” Pala said Raukele were expecting positive results in the finals after a dominant regular season.
“You hardly get such a winning streak in cricket,” he said.
“I think it’s an achievement for the team and we’re privileged to be playing for Raukele Green.
“We will now focus on the finals. Big thanks my teammates and our sponsors for a wonderful season.”
