Reach out to the Lord if you want change, says Fr Czuba

Faith
Fr Jan Czuba

IN this imperfect world, people need to reach out to the Lord if they want change in their lives, a priest says.
Fr Jan Czuba said during a Holy Eucharist mass on Sunday that Lent was a perfect time to reconcile with God.
“This is the time, we need to seek Lord for help, a time to sacrifice and come closer to God,” he said.
“Don’t be afraid to bring your pain and worries, and willingly offer them to Him, He will answer your prayers and worries.
“Go to church, spend some time with God in prayer, everything depends on us, if we truly and willingly want to reconcile and change, we will.”
Czuba said if people or Christians were prepared to receive the Holy Eucharist, they would feel Jesus in their lives. He said spiritual change would need a different type of nourishment.
“Have faith in God and you will truly change,” Czuba said.
His sermon was based on three readings of Geneses 15:5-12 – God enters into the covenant with Abraham, the man of faith; Philippines 3:17-41 – Our homeland is in Heaven and heaven comes from Christ; and, the Gospel of Luke 9:28-36 – Jesus is transfigured.
Czuba said a change of mind and heart in the Gospel reading was invited with the help of Holy Eucharist to transform during this season of Lent.
He said the readings were about the total transformation, which must start somewhere by individuals.
“We must all live as brothers and sisters and the change must come within us,” Czuba said.
“We must think ourselves, assess ourselves and ask ourselves if we care about those around us?
“Do we forgive others we do not like?” He said this is a time to exercise spiritual exercise and change, not expect others to change and not being lazy and afraid to attend church service.
Port Moresby Archbishop Cardinal Sir John Ribat, who led the mass, said the holy mass was dedicated to pray for peace in Ukraine and Russia, pray for the Pope Francis to full fill his work, government leaders, church leaders and the sick to get healing.
