MEMBERS of the United church witnessed the opening of two pastors’ houses in Namatanai, New Ireland, last Saturday.
Namatanai development authority funded the houses under the churches infrastructure programme.
Civil Aviation Minister and Namatanai MP Walter Schnaubelt, who opened the houses, commended community-based organisation network management team for delivering the service.
“The launching of these projects was an indication of the hard work by the team and I commend them,” he said.
The two pastors houses were built at Balai and Namuh United churches, each costing about K50,000.
Schnaublet committed K20,000 each to the two churches to help the completion of a new church and renovation of a rundown pastor’s house.
Ward councillor Raybon Waulik said it was the first of its kind for such a project and the community appreciated the support from the local MP.
“We have not witnessed any such projects for many years and we are grateful for the leadership of our MP,” Waulik said.
