THE International Training Institute (ITI) is ready to resume classes today and is encouraging students and staff to maintain social distancing and good hygiene practices.
ITI chairman Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval told The National that students would only be allowed entry based on their class schedules.
“If your class is not listed in the given time table, you are requested not to come to the institute,” he advised ITI students.
“All classes will have a large percentage of delivery on face-to-face mode.
“Based on the Department of Higher Education’s protocol, in relation to social distancing, class teaching will also be available online.”
Sentheyval said sinks have been placed in student study areas for hand washing. “Before entering seminar rooms, labs and other departments in the campus, students and lecturers should was their hands with soap and water.”
He added that toilets and corridors would be cleaned every two hours.
Sentheyval said about half of ITI’s students were currently accessing the institutions’ online database.
“ITI is also working on getting the remaining students to access online learning and other modes as well.”
“ITI has developed its own database system for online learning.
“It can be accessed anywhere.
“This will help the students in obtaining lecture notes, assessment details and additional reading.
“The learning system has been changed from the traditional method of teaching to the modern methods of learning and teaching.”
