I WISH to comment on the news headline “NID Project hit snag” (The National, September 24).

This clearly shows that corruption is evidently found in the government agencies.

The NID Project is a government funded project that requires proper strategies, planning, implementation and management.

There has been so many malpractices and corruption by the officials in the government sectors that affects the development of the country.

This can be predicted that, the future of the NID Project remains blurred and its sustainability in questionable.

The project’s sustainability depends entirely on the management of the project, how effective and transparent there are. The latter is how good NID employees will collect data in and around the country.

I have observed the NCD rollouts some couple of months ago. I came to realise that NSO has been recruiting bunch of “semi-professionals” who are “functionally illiterate”.

NID Project is an important project that requires professional intelligent who can be able to collect reliable and fact information.

I realise that some information entered into the NID Registry System is not reliable because data collectors fail to collect fact information.

I am not sure if NSO has been closely monitoring its staffs especially those who travel to collect information.

When the information is fake or unreliable, the database might hold all fake information that will cause problem in the future.

Reading that NSO has mismanaged the funds, it paints a bad image to the people around the country and the progress of the project is questionable.

As information intelligent, I recommend government to closely look at this project to ensure the project’s future is clear.

Also, the recruitment of the NID Project employees must be done by other HR Consultant on merit basis.

That will ensure that well qualified professionals are engaged to perform the data collection and entry roles.

On the other hand, the management of the project must be properly engaged to avoid such problem as far as transparency and accountability is concern.
