Red Kona Youths receive backing

A MEDICAL company has sponsored Goroka Lodge Dart club Red Kona Youths with new apparel and K500 for the competition in the Eastern Highlands capital this year.
Vanuga Medical Centre director Dr Kilaga Vanuga said his clinic had responded to a letter from the club seeking sponsorship to participate in the competition.
“We believe that sports are an effective way to empower youths and keep them occupied,” he said.
“Sports take their minds off crime and help rehabilitate them.”
Vanuga said since they were from the Red Kona area, they felt obliged to support the club.
“We are encouraging youths to always follow Covid-19 protocols during the competition,” he said.
Red Kona Youths captain and manager Wally Oruba thanked Vanuga Medical Centre for the sponsorship and assured the company that the sponsorship would be put to good use.
He said many youths were resorting to crime such as alcohol and drug abuses.
