WORDS cannot express what Hekari United have done for some of their players.
This was how captain David Muta expressed his gratitude during a dinner to farewell four players, including himself, as they join Marist FC in the Solomon Islands semi-professional league, the Telikom Super League.
With PNG’s National Soccer League having ended in March, the club ensured that their top players would continue to play in the off-season.
Muta and team-mates Koriak Upaiga, Daniel Joe and Tommy Semmy were drafted into the Honiara-based Marist, who have big hopes of claiming their national soccer title.
The four played key roles in PNG’s surge into the final of the Nations Cup last month in Port Moresby and competing in high level competitions in the region is part of Hekari’s plan to keep their best talent sharp for the new season.
Muta thanked team manageress Vonnie Kapi Natto for liaising with Marist and organising their stint with the club.
“All I can say is that we’ll do our best to ensure Marist improve from last year’s performance,” Muta said. Hekari franchise owner John Kapi Natto said having Hekari players with Marist would pave the way for more player transfers and stints.
