Reduce import and sales taxes on fuel

Letters

THE Government should consider reducing the import and sales taxes on fuel by 50 per cent as a direct subsidy to consumers at the pump under special three to six months’ dispensation until the prices fall below K4 per litre for both petrol and diesel.
This will be a responsible action by the Government to take when it faces the poll to explain itself on what proactive counter measures it took in this period of energy crisis in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and effects of the Ukraine crisis.
