THE relatives of a father-of-two allegedly killed by men on Dec 23 in Port Moresby want the suspects to face the law and pay compensation.
Relatives of Wilson Ngents Alu of the Daga tribe in Banz, North Waghi, Jiwaka said he was an innocent bystander in a fight between people from two highland provinces.
Alu’s father Clement, ward councillor Timothy Kumiye and other leaders sent copies of their petition to Hela Governor Philip Undialu, Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti, the three MPs of Jiwaka, provincial police commanders of Jiwaka, Western Highlands and Hela and Prime Minister James Marape.
Kumiye said Alu had moved to Port Moresby in 2016 and ran a taxi service and trade store.
Kumiye said the relatives wanted the suspects to face the law and pay a compensation of K1 million.
The fight between the people of the two provinces was over betel-nut at ATS in Moresby Northeast.
He alleged that Alu was dragged out of his taxi and killed in public at 9-Mile.
Clement said his son was a God-fearing man.
“My son was killed for no good reason and we want the police, leaders and those in authorities to take action and address this killing,” he said.
Jiwaka provincial police commander Supt Gideon Kauke received the petition on behalf of the leaders.
