Remember your promises, Tirilu

Letters

I THANK Lae Lord Mayor Koim Tirilu for his contribution to the development of West Taraka and his support of sports tournaments for our youths.
Tirilu has proven himself to be an outstanding leader. He does not preach a lot, but his action speaks louder than wards.
Job well done, leader, for your great unconditional support towards the young people of West Taraka and I reckon your action is an eye opener to previous leaders and those intending to contest this year’s elections.
However, your people at Dry Wara settlement, at West Taraka, have been waiting patiently for the promises you made during your campaign that one day yu bai kilim kendol idai (you will put off the candle) on the streets of Dry Wara and bring electricity and water supplies and build a small bridge for the community.
Since the LLG council and mayoral elections are approaching, we the people of Dry Wara settlement appeal to your good office to do something about your promises as your people have been suffering for far too long because of the lack of essential services.
This settlement is host to people from different provinces. It has a population of between 2000 and 3000 people, many of who are government taxpayers.
