Remote schools get share of K1mil from district authority

SCHOOLS in remote Okapa, Eastern Highlands, will benefit from K1 million to be allocated by Okapa district development authority (DDA) next year.
Okapa MP and chairman of Okapa DDA Saki Soloma announced this at a grade 8 graduation ceremony at Tunkau Primary School in Gimi.
“I will allocate K1 million for schools in Okapa district next year,” he said.
“Each of them will identify their own needs, where the money will be spent either on infrastructure where there is need.”
Soloma said investing in human resource development was one of his main pillars for Okapa district.
That has enabled him to build a new Gimi High School and new Gimi Technical Vocational School.
The people of Gimi area have missed out on basic services for the last 43 years of independence, but things are changing, with Soloma from the area
He presented K10,000 to the school and urged students and parents to work together.
Soloma said the road from Krifaga to Gimi and other South Fore ring roads would be maintained and sealed to be followed by electricity.
