Repay money on time: Magistrate

A MAGISTRATE is advising people obtaining loans from moneylenders to repay them on time as agreed to by both parties.
“It’s common sense. When you promise to repay the credit, you must repay without delay,” said Mt Hagen Court Magistrate Lydia Karre.
Karre yesterday told Elijah Kay to repay Francis Brus, the K2,770 he owed by Dec 20 this year, even if it was to be done in installments.
The court was told that Kay, 27, from Dei, went to Brus’ house at Keltiga Primary School on June 12 to borrow K2,770. When he failed to repay the money, Brus reported the matter to police.
Kay was arrested on Oct 23 at a bank in Mt Hagen and charged with obtaining money by false pretences.
He admitted in court on Monday that he owed Brus money and that he would repay everything by Dec.
Magistrate Karre told Kay to repay the money in installments until the amount was repaid in full.
