Replace plates on Zuming Bridge

Letters, Normal

the Zuming Bridge was first opened to traffic in 2004 and, since then, I have witnessed several accidents and even helped to rescue the victims too.
Zuming villager Wasu Samar’s account of accidents on the bridge are true and many more accidents and loss of lives will continue to occur if his call on MP Koni Iguan and Works Minister Don Polye to do a minor correction on the bridge’s design is not heeded.
The solution is simple – replace the checked plates used on the bridge surface with a wooden or cement surface.
The reason is that, under all weather conditions in a day, the checked plates have no grip, making them very slippery.
A signboard must be erected to tell all drivers to reduce speed to 20kph or below when approaching the bridge.
The guard rails from both ends of the bridge must be replaced.
