WESTPAC PNG is urging customers to be wary of scams, as opportunities and cybercriminals are taking advantage of the Covid-19 situation.
According to a Westpac PNG spokesperson, the bank would never send an email or SMS to customers to verify personal information, account details, PIN or passwords.
Customers were urged to report any suspected scam or hoax.
“If they believe any recent online payments or transactions may be the result of a scam, contact us straight away,” the bank said.
Meanwhile, the bank plans to build a new headquarters in PNG.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our service to our PNG customers, and the experience for our employees, Westpac is looking at options to have a new headquarters in Port Moresby,” it said.
Westpac said they were reviewing options and would let make customers know once finalised.
“Westpac’s main focus at the moment is assisting customers who have been affected by the ongoing Covid-19 situation, and we encourage any customers with a home loan or business who has been affected to contact us,” it said.
