POLICE reservists have been warned to be based at police stations and not travel around with special units.
National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent Gideon Ikumu sounded the warning after four reservists were seen in a special unit vehicle at Jackson Airport last week.
He said the four were arrested and taken to the police station where they were formally stood down.
“If we catch you, we will arrest them and charge them for impersonating a police officer,” he said.
The special units include the Dog Unit, Special Services Directorate, Water Police Directorate, Traffic Police Division, Air Wing and the Bomb Search Unit.
Ikumu said all reservist officers were stood down after the 2022 General Elections.
“The only ones that should be working are those from the three batches training at Bomana just before the start of the election,” he said.
“They were issued grey uniforms to be stationed at the police stations only.
“They should not be going around with the special units carrying out police duties.”
