Resource-rich Hela deserves better leaders

The National, Monday January 25th, 2016

ON behalf of the Hela people, I would like to commend the decision made by the Supreme Court of Justice on the January 7, 2016, regarding the leadership struggle between Governor Anderson Agiru and Komo-Magarima MP Francis Potape.

I commend Potape for waking Agiru up from his long sleep because we cannot allow him to continue to govern our resource-rich province via phone calls and empty promises.

Since Agiru assumed office as Hela governor, he rarely visits the province in like other MPs.

Hence, the people of Hela are in much doubt about what he has achieved so far and what effective plans he has that will benefit Hela in the long run.

However, I must state that both Agiru and Potape have little concern for Hela because both of them have not cleaned their filthy backyards to prove their right to the governor.

While our provincial headquarters in Tari is facing a critical situation, Agiru and Potape are enjoying the luxuries in Port Moresby and attending court proceedings to wrestle power from each other.

Tari town is in total chaos with tribal fights, crime and a total breakdown in law and order.

It’s time for change and all Hela MPs, especially Potape and Agiru, to unite and work together for the betterment of Hela if you really do have a heart for us as the 2017 National Election is around the corner.

I urge all the Hela people to consider all the past mistakes, be wise while casting your votes in the coming elections and never ever support leaders who are selfish and full of pride and empty promises.

I pray that God will give us a new leader who is honest, humble, and transparent.
