INTER-GOVERNMENT Relations Minister Pila Niningi says those responsible for locking up the Agiru centre are not following the rule of law.
“What you have done is wrong,” he said. “You have to unlock the office.
“The office has to function.
“The deputy governor is there.
“We have ministers in the province.
“We have to respect those people who run the office. Other provinces have accepted that court decision, and what’s wrong with us?
“We have to respect the court’s decision and allow the rule of law to take its course.”
Niningi, who is Imbonggu MP, appealed to Southern Highlanders to follow the rule of law.
He also appealed to the police to help remove the chains and lock immediately.
“Police must take a proactive approach to step in and restore order,” he said. “Do not take sides.
“If the police do not step in to restore peace and order on small issues, what would they do with big issues?
“Back then, police were there on site when the burning down of Air Niugini took place.
“Police were there when a policeman was killed.
“The provincial police commander must take action right now to have the chains and lock removed for normalcy to be restored.”
