Review Australia’s ‘capitalist diplomacy’

Letters

THE statement by Prime Minister James Marape “short term pains for long term gains” to national employees of Porgera Mine who were stood down due to the current disagreement between the State and Barrick/Zijin is truly noble.
These foreign capitalists are exploiting our ignorance and weak leadership to plunder and rape the nation of its riches.
Therefore sacrifices are permissible if we are to regain our fair share of wealth harvested.
With the same patriotism and boldness, Marape should seriously demonstrate leadership against another tyrannical octopus, Australia’s neo-colonialistic and capitalist diplomacy in PNG.
Since Independence, this bilateral relation has evaded the microscope of serious intellectual debate and analysis by PNG’s Parliament.
Australia has never been an equal development partner rather a capitalist marauder safeguarding its own national interests and security.
Canberra sponsored or influenced structural reforms and policies are often disruptive and oppressive to our development goals.
Look at the mess the failed outcome based education (OBE) programme created within our education system.
Looking at trade, PNG’s business sector and economy is dominated by Australian companies and associates while hardly can the same be said for PNG’s entrepreneurs in Australia’s economy.
When PNG opened up to China for much needed real infrastructure development, Canberra’s propaganda and imperialism assertiveness went into overdrive.
Because it threatens Australia’s interests, it just wasn’t good enough for PNG no matter how beneficial. This sadly affected our infrastructure and trade development momentum with the world’s second biggest economy.
The Australian aid and grant is a neocolonial tool to infiltrate and weaken our defenses and resilience to achieve national superiority and independence over development challenges and leadership.
We have minerals, petrochemicals, and agriculture, marine and forestry resources in abundance.
We don’t need Australian aid or grants.
It should be obvious by now capitalist Australia is using every tools at its disposal to influence PNG’s political and trade decisions and behaviour so they have free traction to exploit, plunder and rape the nation off its wealth while subjugating national aspirations. Seriously, the battle at Kokoda, WW II, was to prevent Japan from landing at Cairns, rather than saving PNG?
Find encouragement in the words of Argentine, Ernesto “Che” Guevara, guerrilla leader and military theorist of Cuban Revolution; ‘It is better to die standing than to live on your knees’.
