IN all the corners of Port Moresby as the sun rose, the members of the Revival Centres of Papua New Guinea (RCP) church were out on the streets collecting rubbish on Monday and Tuesday.
On Tuesday morning, The National caught up with a group who started collecting rubbish from Waigani and were on their way to the Unagi Oval at Gordon where everyone would gather.
Church member Anna Seoka said the cleanup programme would lead up to the church’s 39th anniversary celebration which would be hosted at their main church in 9-Mile.
Seoka said two days were set aside for cleaning and the next three days, starting today, were dedicated to outreach.
“In the Port Moresby assembly, we have three districts and we are from Moresby North-East,” she said.
“The other districts are also doing the same.”
Seoka said the cleanup comprised of picking up rubbish and clearing public areas.
“This is part of our church’s anniversary celebration,” she said.
“The celebration will happen on Saturday with food and fellowship and continue on to Sunday.”
