Rice a nice staple for grassroots

IT is high time that our local rice industry is developed and tariffs imposed on importers.
This is because the quality of Trukai Rice has deteriorated so badly!
The rice packets contain excessive dust/dirt inside that one has to rinse the rice at least twice before cooking. The Roots Rice is even worse!
Apart from the dust and all, you find numerous hardened grains that can be harmful to your teeth.
The taste and smell of these rice brands have worsened as well.
I have tasted rice bought from Woolworths, Coles and other convenience stores in Australia and must admit that their rice are cleaner, tastier and of higher quality.
Papua New Guinea does not need multi-national corporations who do not care about improving quality of life for human beings but only to capitalise on our helplessness and the relative low living standard of most of our people to dump foodstuff of low quality at so-called affordable prices and making huge profits.
They have been doing this for far too long now and enough is enough.
We should put a stop to this madness and inhumane acts by foreigners who treat PNG as a dumping ground.
This includes fatty lamb flaps from Australia and New Zealand, low quality Asian products, dirty rice and more.
