VETERAM journalist Yehiura Hriehwazi was a fine scribe who passionately informed and educated Papua New Guineans through his articles.
He was a champion in raising and reporting cross-cutting, contentious and controversial issues affecting the nation.
We need more journalists like Yehi, who are a devoted, dedicated and religious in promoting media ethics through articles and stand for what is right.
A few years ago, Yehi was instrumental in hiring me at The National as business reporter, where I later became Chief Political Reporter.
I am very grateful.
As many have testified, he was an outstanding mentor, stern yet humbly leading or pointing out the way.
In the last year, as Editor (Post-Courier) and later Business Editor (The National) until his death, he was a valuable contact to me and my employer, BSP.
He read in between the lines and reverted with questions after perusing my press releases.
And he usually had the courtesy of verifying, ensuring balance regarding an issue others opted to speculate or sensationalise.
I am previleged to have worked with Yehi.
His presence as a scribe, a mentor and as a colleague will be sadly missed.
