THE Rigo Central Netball Association is setting its sight on the PNG Netball Federation’s national championships in September in Lae.
President Iammo Launa said after the recent district tournament her executives were working to secure sufficient funding to attend the championships.
Launa said getting support was difficult in the present economic climate but her executives were doing their best to get their teams to the national titles.
The association hopes to send junior teams from the Under-13s, U15s, U17s and U21s as well as senior teams in the A and B grades and a masters side.
“Rigo has a lot of netballing talent and we hope to secure funding to send them to the national championships,” Launa said.
“This is a chance for our village players to compete at the next level.
Launa said the teams had been picked and the clubs and villages had been notified with training to start this month.
She appealed to business houses in Central and NCD to support them in cash or kind.
Launa said during the district tournament Vitis Industries had supported them.
She commended the company for its contribution to Rigo netball.
