Rosso raises alarm over contractors

LAE MP John Rosso says project contracts should not be awarded to companies that are ill equipped.
“If you want to help build up local companies, give them projects according to their capability,” he said.
Rosso said K500,000 contract awarded to Alliance Project Insight in 2019 to build a four-in-one double classroom for Huonville Primary School in his district was yet to start.
“Now those who gave the contract should be held accountable; why didn’t they go and check, how did they give to a contractor who had no capacity,” he said.
“If we stop all the stealing, we would have classrooms and other needed infrastructure.”
Huonville head teacher Dairi Baru confirmed that initial work began last year.
“They started laying the foundation without properly draining the waterlogged site so we told them to stop work and conduct a proper assessment of the soil first before continuing,” he said.
