The Rotary Club of Port Moresby thanks all its sponsors for their financial support this year for carrying out work in communities throughout the country.
In presenting the certificates to the sponsors, president of the Port Moresby Rotary Club Tony Witham expressed his gratitude saying the club would not be able to function without their support.
“To all our sponsors, thank you very much for your support this year and we hope this will continue in the coming years.
“Without your support, we would not be able to achieve the great work of rotary,” Witham said.
He made mention of the Rotary Club’s major projects this year some of which included co-coordinating the relief fund for the Popondetta flood rescue and reconstruction, purchasing of ovens and refrigerators for the Port Moresby General Hospital and unpacking and distributing containers of school and medical supplies.
Witham said money received was spent on projects including K14,000 for road signage with the NCDC and the Rotary Club of Boroko to slow down speeding drivers, K5,000 towards the NCDC Christmas tree appeal, K10,000 towards the women’s prison and K4,640 on plumbing work for Cheshire homes.
He said the Rotary Club received more than K100,000 each year from sponsors, all of which went back into helping the communities.
